The Indian Premier League 2013 (IPL 6) will have nine teams competing for the ultimate glory. A total of 72 league matches will be played at 12 venues over 54 days. The nine IPL franchise will play 16 matches each (eight away and eight home) to claim the top spot in IPL 2013 points table.
Four play-off matches, including the final, will be played taking the total to 76 matches. In the play-offs, the top two teams of IPL 6 points table will face each other in the Qualifier 1 play-off match and the winner will qualify for the final.
The teams that finish third and fourth in the IPL 6 team standings will play each other in the Eliminator play-off match. The winner will then play against the loser of Qualifier 1 in the Qualifier 2 play-off. The winner of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 will face each other in the final of IPL 2013 at the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata on May 26.
Points are awarded in the group stage of Pepsi IPL T20 as follows:
Win : 2 points, No result: 1 point and Loss : 0 points
According to rules, if a match ended with the scores tied, the tie is broken with a one-over-per-side Super Over.
Team with most runs wins
- If equal, the team with most number of boundary sixes throughout the entire match wins.
- If still equal, the team with most number of boundaries throughout the entire match wins.
- If still equal, the team taking the most wickets throughout the entire match wins.
- If still equal, a count-back from the final ball of the Super Over eliminator shall be conducted. The team with the higher scoring delivery shall be the winner.
- If still equal, by toss.
